In the mid-20th century, the construction industry saw a surge in demand for lightweight, high-strength metal materials, a trend that Drescol keenly recognized. In 1978, the company developed the first-generation Galaxy series of ultra-lightweight panels and applied them for the first time to the Barbican Centre project in London.
